Inescapable--Twilight Fanfiction Bash Site
"People do not deserve good writing, they are so pleased with bad."

Here are some links to places to help your writing. Many of these links were ripped shamelessly from the FicBitch's Fic Resources page.

First off, Mark Twain's Rules of Writing. There's a reason why I quote this man everywhere.

Second, a glossary to get you through most of the words found in the fanfiction world.

Dr. Merlin's Guide to Fanfiction still rings true years later.

The Mary Sue Litmus Test. It pretty much speaks for itself.

Hardcore Critique Advice--Learn to Self-Critique!

Incandescent is Sera Phyn's writing blog. She has tons of excellent advice. A must read.

Firefly's and Pelirroja's Fanfic Tips touch on the most common annoyances in fanfiction. Read and remember NOT to do any of those!

If your fanfiction is found only in FF.net, chances are 1) It's bad and/or 2) It won't be read as they have a daily influx of what, 100+ stories daily? Try publishing in Twilight Archives. This site is run by Kaiwynn and the rules are simple: proper spelling, good grammar, line breaks between paragraphs, and everything 500+ words. To be an author you have to run through a Validation Period wherein you make an account, submit a story and wait for the results. If allowed, you can post. If rejected, you'll be told why.

Then, there is the fanfiction section of Ramblings and Thoughts, better known as Pel's Fanfiction Site. This is a by invitation only archive. There are regular submission periods throughout the year to become an author or artist there. Unless you are personally invited to submit AU, there are no AUs allowed, all stories are of the best quality and, while there are some reviewers whom you'd like to stab, the feedback is usually nothing short of excellent.

In summary, Crap : Fanfiction.net :: Excellence : R&T. In case you do not understand analogies, crap is to FF.net as Excellence is to R&T. So go publish in TA or R&T. Both administrators are wonderful.

My Biology teacher taught me a valuable lesson. No one (especially teenagers) remembers anything easily unless it is related to sex (teenagers remember nothing unless related to sex). So, here is The Sexed Up Grammar Guide wherein, by the use of graphic examples, Thamiris (its author) teaches you all about grammar. Unless you're over seventeen, don't follow link. I am not responsible for any consequences later (Unless the consequence is improved writing in which case, I take full responsibility! Okay, partial responsibility.)
